Eye Care Technology

At her optometry office, Planet Vision Eyecare, Dr. Hetel Bhakta has practiced the belief that providing the best care for patients means providing the most advanced eye treatments and technologies available. Dr. Bhakta continuous to invest in her West Palm Beach practice with products and instruments that will help patients achieve healthier eyes and clearer vision.

Below are just a few of the technologies that Planet Vision Eyecare offers.

i.ProfilerPlus

The i.ProfilerPlus is one of the most sophisticated vision diagnostics tools available to the optical world. The device includes a four-in-one system for measuring ocular wavefront aberrations, the refractive status of the eye, corneal topography and keratometry (curvatures of the cornea).

The data provided gives Dr. Bhakta a one-of-a-kind map of a patient’s eye that can then be used to produce custom eyeglass lenses that are perfectly suited to the patients needs.

The i.ProfilerPlus technology is used in conjunction with i.Scription technology by ZEISS to provide patients advanced lens technology that has been proven to surpass conventional lenses for nighttime driving and improved vision in low light situations.

Dr. Bhakta may use the i.ProfilerPlus technology during your eye examination to check your pupil under various lighting conditions to detect even the smallest problems.

Along with the i.ProfilerPlus, additional tools will be used to check for eye conditions such as macular degeneration, glaucoma and diabetic retinopathy.

Optos OCT (Glaucoma Testing)

More than 2 million Americans suffer from glaucoma, which is also blamed as the second leading cause of blindness. Glaucoma has no symptoms in the early stages of the disease and is known as the “silent thief of vision”. Early detection with OCT testing and immediate treatment can greatly slow the progression of the disease.

PlanetVision’s Greenacres practice makes use of the OCT to screen for this disease. Testing with the device takes just a few second per eye and can provide valuable information for early detection.

Optomap Camera (Retinal Testing)

Don’t like having your eyes dilated? No problem. The Optomap retinal camera can take 200 degree wide angle digital images of the retina without having to dilate the eye. The camera is used to screen for an array of eye conditions including macular degeneration, diabetic retinopathy, retinal holes and tears, and many other retinal issues.

Corneal Refractive Therapy

Corneal Refractive Therapy, or CRT, is an FDA-approved treatment, in which patients wear special therapy contacts while they sleep to gently change the shape of the cornea. With overnight wear, patients wake up to improved vision during the day unaided by glasses or contacts.

CRT is most effective for patients with nearsightedness as well as those who may not qualify for LASIK surgery.
