Corneal Refractive Therapy

Have you ever wished for better vision without the hassle of wearing glasses, putting in contacts or undergoing surgery? Now there is another option available. Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT) has been approved by the Federal Drug Administration as a way to safely and effectively improve nearsightedness without having to wear glasses or contacts during the day.

If you suffer from nearsightedness, talk to your Lake Worth optometrist about this demonstrated treatment technique. Patients of CRT wear special contact lenses at night that work to gently reshape the cornea of the eye.  Upon awakening, patients remove the contacts and experience clear vision throughout the day.

During the initial therapy it only takes patients a few nights of wearing the contacts at night before waking up to clearer vision throughout the day unaided by contacts or glasses. Full treatment results can take up to two weeks to take effect using CRT, however, as long as the contacts are worn nightly, clearer vision during the day will remain. The results of clearer vision are reversible if contact wear is discontinued and requires continuous nightly wear for full effectiveness.

Patients best suited for corneal refractive therapy include:

  • Adults, teens and tweens who have mild to moderate nearsighted corrections
  • Those who do not qualify, or do not wish to undergo LASIK eye surgery
  • Those who lead an active lifestyle and are hampered by daily wear of glasses or contacts.

For more information about corneal refractive therapy, call your West Palm Beach optometrist at Planet Vision Eyecare to set up your eye exam. Our experienced doctor will provide you with a thorough examination and consultation to see if you would be a good candidate for CRT. Find out if you can ditch your glasses or contacts during the day for good with corneal refractive therapy.
